In our quest for beautiful nails, we often turn to nail polish and acrylic nails to enhance our style. However, beneath the vibrant colors and flawless finishes lie potential dangers that can affect not only our nails but also our overall health. In this blog post, we will delve into the hidden dangers of both nail polish and acrylic nails, exploring their impact on our nervous system and the body as a whole.
Both nail polish and acrylic nails contain a range of chemicals that can pose risks to our health. Nail polish often contains harmful ingredients such as formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate (DBP), and toluene, which have been linked to respiratory issues, hormonal disruptions, and nervous system damage. On the other hand, acrylic nails involve the use of chemicals like methyl methacrylate (MMA), which can cause skin irritation, allergic reactions, and again damage to the nervous system.
Nervous System Impact:
Our nervous system, the intricate network responsible for transmitting signals throughout our body, is particularly vulnerable to the effects of these chemicals. When we apply nail polish or acrylic nails, the chemicals can be absorbed through the nail bed and enter our bloodstream, eventually reaching the brain and spinal cord. Prolonged exposure to these toxins may lead to headaches, dizziness, memory loss, cognitive impairment, decreased mental clarity and even more severe neurological issues. Theres no way to tell that our systems could be coming from the nail polish and acrylics alone, so modern day Doctors dont bring this to your attention, which keeps you in the cycle of having symptoms and health issues because we dont remove the toxins that are causing it.
The Whole Body Consequences:
The dangers of nail polish and acrylic nails extend beyond the nervous system. The chemicals present in these products can also have adverse effects on other organs and systems in our body. For instance, formaldehyde, a common ingredient in nail polish, has been classified as a carcinogen and may increase the risk of certain cancers. Additionally, the fumes emitted during the application of acrylic nails can irritate the respiratory system, leading to breathing difficulties and allergic reactions. This can result in heightened reactions to other products or environmental triggers. Have you ever tried to type on a keyboard with long acrylic nails, only to end up sounding like a tap-dancing penguin? I used to like that sound. And used to love my beautiful hands with pretty nails, but I didnt like the headaches, migraines and health issues I was dealing with, and I had no idea what was causing them when I used to get my nails done on the regular. Im not saying nail polish and acrylics is what were causing my health issues, but it did make them worse. Getting headaches and migraines significantly impact a Womens quality of life and productivity. Damaging our nervous system, puts the whole body at risk for many negative things to arise.
While nail polish and acrylic nails can enhance our beauty, it’s crucial to be aware of the potential dangers they pose to our nervous system and overall health. The chemicals present in these products can have harmful effects on our bodies, from the nervous system to other vital organs. By opting for healthier alternatives and practicing moderation, we can still enjoy beautiful nails without compromising our well-being. So, next time you indulge in a manicure, remember to prioritize your health and keep your nails and nervous system happy! Women struggle with many health issues that are deemed as “common” but although it’s common, it does make it normal and by removing toxins from our environment and our beauty products will put us on a path to healing.
Another key point, is our children learn from us, if we learn and implement good toxin free hygiene, they benefit from it too. If we show them habits of painting our nails with toxic polish, they will want to do it too. I learned from my mom’s, yes mom(s) mother & step mom. It was actually a bonding experience to go get out nails. So I understand the emotional tie to it. We have to heal ourselves, so we can heal our children. We need to make good choices so they will have to option to make good decisions. Nail salons aren’t here to help our health, they’re there to make money. It’s a business.
I want to briefly share with you more information on the nervous system, because I want you to know how important it is to care for it. And at the end of this I’ll share how I care for my nails, so they’re still beautiful and feminine without harming my health!
There are consequences of the burden of toxins.
The nervous system is a remarkable network that serves as the body’s communication system, allowing us to perceive, process, and respond to the world around us. From coordinating our movements to regulating vital functions, the nervous system plays a crucial role in our overall well-being.
The nervous system is responsible for controlling and coordinating all bodily functions, ensuring harmony and balance within our bodies. It consists of two main components: the central nervous system (CNS), which includes the brain and spinal cord, and the peripheral nervous system (PNS), which comprises the nerves that extend throughout the body.
Functions of the Nervous System:
1. Sensory Input: The nervous system receives information from our senses, allowing us to perceive the world around us. It enables us to see, hear, taste, smell, and touch, providing a rich sensory experience.
2. Integration: The nervous system processes and integrates sensory information, allowing us to make sense of our surroundings. It analyzes the data received and initiates appropriate responses.
3. Motor Output: The nervous system sends signals to our muscles and glands, enabling us to move and produce bodily responses. It coordinates muscle contractions, allowing us to walk, talk, and perform various actions.
4. Homeostasis: The nervous system helps maintain internal balance and stability within our bodies. It regulates body temperature, heart rate, blood pressure, and other vital functions to ensure optimal functioning. These things are SUPER IMPORTANT! We cant scroll by and chose to not think of it, because we will have to suffer the consequences in the future, if were into already suffering from them.
When the nervous system becomes burdened with toxins, it can lead to various adverse effects on our health.
1. Neurological Disorders: Toxins can disrupt the normal functioning of nerve cells, leading to the development of neurological disorders. These may include cognitive impairments, memory loss, movement disorders, and even neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s.
2. Nerve Damage: Toxins can cause damage to the peripheral nerves, leading to symptoms such as numbness, tingling, weakness, and pain. This can interfere with daily activities and impact overall quality of life.
3. Impaired Cognitive Function: Toxins burdening the nervous system can impair cognitive function, affecting memory, attention, and overall mental clarity. This can impact productivity, learning abilities, and overall cognitive performance.
4. Disrupted Communication: Toxins can interfere with the transmission of signals within the nervous system, disrupting communication between the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves. This can lead to delays in motor responses, sensory abnormalities, and coordination difficulties.
The nervous system is a remarkable and vital system that enables us to navigate the world and maintain optimal health. Its functions are diverse and essential for our overall well-being. However, when burdened with toxins, the consequences can be significant, leading to neurological disorders, nerve damage, impaired cognitive function, and disrupted communication. It is crucial to prioritize the health of our nervous system by minimizing toxin exposure, adopting a healthy lifestyle, and seeking professional guidance when needed. By doing so, we can ensure the proper functioning of this incredible system and enjoy a life of vitality and well-being.
Remember, a healthy nervous system is the foundation for a vibrant life!
Now I’ll share how I care for my nail! It so simple and so cheap! I use an under the nail cleaner, like a little stick, that cleans the dirt from under. I clean under my nails and toes every day, it takes less than 30 seconds and I have clean, pretty fingers and toes. I let my nails grow out a bit, and they look beautiful.

If you dont want plain natural ways and still want to have some fun, here are some non toxic alternatives to try out. While these alternatives may not provide the same long-lasting and glossy finish as nail polish, they can still add a touch of color to your nails. Here’s a few natural recipes and tricks to consider:
1. Beet Juice or Berry Stains:
– Create a natural nail stain by soaking your nails in beet juice or by rubbing them with the juice of crushed berries like raspberries or blackberries.
– Apply the juice to your nails and let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing off. Repeat the process until you achieve the desired color intensity.
2. Henna:
– Henna powder, commonly used for temporary tattoos, can also be used to create natural nail color.
– Mix henna powder with lemon juice or water to form a paste. Apply the paste to your nails and let it dry completely. Rinse off after a few hours or overnight to reveal a reddish-brown stain.
3. Natural Pigments:
– Some natural pigments, such as turmeric or spirulina powder, can be mixed with a clear base coat or top coat to create a tinted effect.
– Experiment with different ratios to achieve your desired color. Keep in mind that these pigments may stain your nails temporarily and possibly your clothes. I warned you. Lol.
4. DIY Nail Buffing: My FAV!
– Instead of adding color, you can focus on enhancing the natural shine and appearance of your nails.
– Use a nail buffer to gently buff your nails, which can help smooth out ridges and create a healthy, glossy look.
5. Nail Art with Natural Materials:
– Get creative with natural materials like dried flowers, leaves, or even small gemstones.
– Apply a clear base coat and while it’s still wet, carefully place the natural materials onto your nails. Seal them with a clear top coat for added durability.
Remember, these natural alternatives may not have the same longevity as traditional nail polish, so you may need to reapply or touch up more frequently. Additionally, it’s important to ensure that you are not allergic or sensitive to any of the natural ingredients used. Always test a small area before applying to your entire nail.
Embrace the beauty of natural alternatives and have fun experimenting with these non-toxic options for colorful and creative nails!
